The Ferrari F50 was introduced in 1995 to celebrated Ferrari's 50th anniversary. This mid-engined, convertible, two-seater supercar featured an improved version of the Ferrari V-12 engine originally developed for use on the 1992 Ferrari Formula One race car.
The Ferrari F50 was designed with the idea of making a Formula One car for the street. This supercar was a more civilized and user-friendly version of the famous high-performance cars that have made the Ferrari name so well known. A carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and a purely functional interior kept weight to 3,080 pounds.
Suspension on the F50 consists of double wishbones and inboard pushrod-operated springs. The engine was an F1 unit stroked to increase displacement while maintaining a 8,700-rpm capability. The V-12 also includes dry sump lubrication, titanium connecting rods and five valves per cylinder operated by four camshafts.
